October 21, 2024 - A suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a man at 7250 West Greens Road about 11 p.m. on March 11, 2022 is in custody.

The suspect, Kyle Andrew Coolack, 37, is charged with murder in the 182nd State District Court. A 2021 booking photo of Coolack, who is in custody in Calhoun County, Iowa, is attached to this news release.

He is accused in the death of his brother, Brad Henry Coolack, 35.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant C. Duncan and Detective K. Lovelace reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call at an apartment complex at the above address and found Mr. Brad Coolack inside an apartment. He had been shot multiple times. Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced him deceased.

Witnesses in the area stated they heard two people arguing and then multiple gunshots. Kyle Andrew Coolack was initially identified as a person of interest in this incident.

Further investigation determined Kyle Coolack's involvement in his brother's death and, on July 15, 2022, a murder charge was filed.

On Sunday, (October 20), HPD homicide detectives were advised Coolack was arrested by Calhoun County Sheriff's Department deputies without incident.

Coolack remains in Calhoun County Jail awaiting extradition to Harris County.
