October 14, 2024 - Houston police are investigating the fatal crash that occurred at 12200 Katy Freeway (West Interstate Highway 10) service road about 1:20 a.m. today.

The identity of the deceased male, 39, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant R. Dallas and Officer J. Trevino reported:

The male was in a black Chevrolet Malibu traveling westbound on the Katy Freeway service road at a high rate of speed. The driver lost control of the vehicle and struck a utility pole. The male was ejected and paramedics pronounced him deceased at the scene.

A second occupant of the vehicle fled the scene on foot. Further investigation will determine which person was the driver and the identity of the male who fled the scene.
