March 1, 2023 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the shooting of a woman at 8400 Scott Street about 1:20 a.m. on Monday (February 27).

The suspect, Victor Jonatan Gallegos Betancourh, 26, is charged with aggravated assault of a family member in the 177th State District Court.  A booking photo of Gallegos Betancourh is attached to this news release.  

The female victim, 20, was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.  

HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Detective A. Otero reported:  

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at the above address and found a female with gunshot wounds.  Houston Fire Department paramedics transported the female to the hospital.  The suspect, alter identified as Gallegos Betancourh, returned to the scene and was detained by officers. 

Further investigation determined Gallegos Betancourh was responsible for the shooting of the female.  The Harris County District Attorney's Office was consulted and Gallegos Betancourh was subsequently charged for his role in the incident.
