June 22, 2023 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man found at 5100 South Acres Drive about 11:40 a.m. on December 10, 2022.

The suspect, Lucio Fernandez, 35, is charged with murder in the 183rd State District Court. A booking photo of Fernandez is attached to this news release.

The victim is identified as Danail Strawhun, 31.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives P. Pak and J. Wallschlaeger reported:

Officers were dispatched to a deceased person call and were advised that a passerby observed an adult male unresponsive in a ditch at the above address. The man, later identified as Mr. Strawhun, had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced deceased by paramedics.

At that time, there are no known witnesses or suspect(s) in this incident.

Further investigation identified Fernandez as the suspect in this case. The Harris County District Attorney's Office was contacted and a murder warrant was filed. On Wednesday (June 21), Fernandez was arrested by the HPD Southeast Patrol Division Crime Suppression Team and the Pearland Police Department without incident.
