November 28, 2022 - Houston police are awaiting autopsy results in the apparent accidental fatal shooting of a man at 7901 Amelia Road about 12:05 a.m. today (Nov. 28).

The identity of the victim, 21, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant K. Meek and Detective D. Lunceford reported:

Officers were dispatched to a shooting call at the apartment complex at the above address and found a male unresponsive in an apartment bedroom.  He had suffered a gunshot wound and was pronounced deceased at the scene. 

A witness stated the man was cleaning his gun when she heard the gun go off.  The witness administered CPR while on the phone with 9-1-1 until paramedics arrived.  It is believed the incident is likely an accidental, self inflicted shooting.  Detectives are awaiting autopsy results.
