September 21, 2020 - Houston police are investigating the fatal auto-pedestrian crash that occurred at 11600 South Sam Houston Parkway service road about 5:25 a.m. on Saturday (September 19).

The identity of the female pedestrian is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant L. Ross and Officer E. Rubio reported:

The victim was walking westbound on the center lane of the Sam Houston Parkway service road.  The driver of a green Chevrolet Tahoe, also traveling westbound on the service road, swerved in an attempt to avoid the pedestrian, however she was struck by the vehicle.  The victim was pronounced dead of the scene.  The driver of the Tahoe remained a the scene, was questioned and released. 

The investigation is continuing.
