September 10, 2020 - Houston police are investigating the shooting of a woman at 9200 West Loop South (West Interstate Highway 610 South) service road about 5:40 p.m. on Wednesday (September 9).  

The victim, Destiny Downey, 24, was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.  

HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Officer C. Brannen reported:  

Ms. Downey was driving near the above address when a white Ford four-door sedan, stopped behind her vehicle.  The driver of the Ford was seen standing next to Downey's driver side door trying to speak to her.  The driver then returned to his vehicle, retrieved a long gun and fired into Downey's vehicle.  Downey was struck once in the back.  The suspect then fled the scene in his vehicle.  Paramedics transported Downey to the hospital.
