Investigation into Fatal Crash at 161 West Road
June 17, 2020 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 161 West Road about 7:50 a.m. last Saturday (June 13).
The identity of the male victim, a pedestrian, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant S. Maness and Officer P. Ngo reported:
The male driver of a tractor-trailer truck was backing into the loading dock of a grocery store at the above address and struck the victim, who was sleeping under a blanket on the driveway of the loading dock. The driver noticed something dark on the right side of the truck as he was backing up and got out of the truck. He realized he had struck the victim and called 9-1-1. Paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the man deceased.
No charges have been filed in this incident. The investigation is continuing.
