Investigation into Fatal Crash at 1105 Smith Street
January 21, 2020 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 1105 Smith Street about 12:40 a.m. on Monday (January 20).
The victim, Melanie Camp, 28, was pronounced dead at the scene.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Rose and Officer J. Hill reported:
Ms. Camp was driving a silver Hyundai Santa Fe eastbound near the above address when, for unknown reasons, she left the roadway and drove into a ditch on the north side of the road. The vehicle continued eastbound, struck a concrete driveway in the ditch and came to a stop.
Paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced Camp deceased. A preliminary investigation indicated she was not wearing a seat belt.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
