Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Crash at 4200 Genoa Red Bluff Road
January 2, 2020 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal crash at 4200 Genoa Red Bluff Road about 3:35 a.m. on Wednesday (Jan. 1).
The suspect, Stephen Dario Rodriguez (H/m, 30), is charged with felony driving while intoxicated (third offense) in the 339th State District Court. A booking photo of Rodriguez, who remains hospitalized, is not available at this time.
The identity of the male victim, 24, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Rose and Officer J. Johnson reported:
The victim was operating a purple motorcycle at a high rate of speed and traveling westbound on Genoa Red Bluff when he struck the passenger side of a small, four-door vehicle turning from Genoa Red Bluff onto Pine Tree Drive. The vehicle and motorcycle spun and then caught on fire. The motorcyclist was pronounced deceased on the scene.
Rodriguez, the vehicle driver, was transported to HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake in stable condition. He was determined to be intoxicated and subsequently charged for the third time for driving while intoxicated.
