October 3, 2019 - Houston police are investigating an incident in which an off-duty Liverpool Police Department officer discharged his weapon at 3300 F.M. 2351 about 9:05 p.m. on Tuesday (October 1).
The female suspect, Ashley Elizabeth Casey (w/f, 27) is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 262nd State District Court. A booking photo of Casey is attached to this news release.

HPD Special Investigations Unit Detectives M. Rodriguez and J. Villareal reported:
The off-duty Liverpool police officer was in his personal vehicle and stopped at a red light on the Gulf Freeway (South Interstate Highway 45) service road at the intersection of F.M. 1959 when his vehicle was struck from behind by a black Honda. When the officer pulled off the street to meet with the driver (Casey) of the Honda, she fled the scene.
The officer followed the Honda to a red light at 3300 F.M. 2351. exited his vehicle and instructed Casey to not go anywhere and wait for police. As the officer stood at the front of the Honda, he showed his badge and identified himself as a police officer. Casey ignored the officer's instructions and accelerated toward him, striking him on the leg. The officer then discharged his off-duty weapon at the Honda's tire as Casey attempted to flee. Casey continued to flee and struck at least two other vehicles before she lost control of the Honda and crashed into a tree at 1000 Clear Lake City Boulevard. She was then taken into custody by responding HPD officers.
