Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Crash at 9800 Aldine Westfield
November 19, 2019 - Houston police have arrested a suspect charged in a fatal crash that occurred at 9800 Aldine Westfield about 6:30 pm. on Monday (November 18).
Sergio Montenegro (H/m, 25) is charged with Intoxication Manslaughter and Failure to Stop and Render Aid in the 178th State District Court. A photo of the suspect is not releasable at this time.
The identity of the male victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Rodriguez and Officer J. Baker reported:
Montenegro was driving a white Chevrolet Suburban southbound on Aldine Bender when he failed to maintain a single lane, drove his passenger side tires along the dirt and grassy area between the street and the sidewalk, and struck the victim (a bicyclist) who was also traveling southbound. Montenegro then fled the scene. The victim was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital where he was pronounced dead
Montenegro and his vehicle were located at a nearby business at 9600 Irvington due to a witness that called in the vehicle's location. Officers responded to the scene and arrested Montenegro.
The investigation is continuing.
