Investigation into Fatal Crash at 8400 Beechnut
May 20, 2019 - Houston police are investigating the fatal crash that occurred at 8400 Beechnut about 1:25 a.m. on Saturday (May 18).
The identity of the male victim, 32, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Rose and Officer K. Hines reported:
The victim was driving his red Nissan Titan pickup truck eastbound on Beechnut at a high rate of speed and ran the red light at the intersection at South Gessner. He then struck a black Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck and a gray Toyota Sienna, both traveling northbound on South Gessner. The victim's truck continued east on Beechnut, rolled several times and then struck a utility pole.
The victim was ejected and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Chevrolet was transported to an area hospital with possible broken bones. The passenger had several lacerations but was not transported. The driver of the Toyota also suffered minor injuries and was not transported.
