Investigation into Man's Death at 4003 Wayne Street
March 29, 2019 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the shooting of a man at 633 Rushcreek Drive about 3 a.m. on March 21.
The suspect, Jason Wells (b/m, 20), is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and felon in possession of a weapon in the 178th State District Court. A booking photo of Wells is attached to this news release.
The victim, Kaijea Wylie, 22, suffered gunshot wounds and was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.
HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Officers C. Grahmann and V. Habukiha reported:
Mr. Wylie and two witnesses arrived at an apartment complex at the above address to hang out. Wylie and the suspect (Wells) began arguing about a previous incident. Wells produced a pistol and fired multiple shots at Wylie, striking him multiple times. Wells then fled the scene.
Further investigation led to charges being filed on Wells and he was arrested on Thursday (March 28) without incident.
