Investigation into Fatal Crash at 5000 Westheimer Road
June 17, 2019 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 5000 Westheimer Road about 8:15 p.m. on Saturday (June 15).
The male victim, 60, was transported to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Benavidez and Officer G. Anderson reported:
The driver of a black Chevrolet Suburban was traveling westbound at the above address and slowed down to allow another vehicle to turn in front of him. He then sped up, not seeing the victim who was crossing northbound on Westheimer and not in a cross walk. The victim was struck and transported to the hospital where he died.
The driver, 28, was questioned, showed no visible signs of intoxication and was released.
There are no charges in this incident, as the investigation is continuing.
