Suspect Arrested, Charged in Shooting at 77 East Edgebrook
February 25, 2019 - Houston police have arrested a suspect charged in the shooting of a male that occurred at 77 East Edgebrook about 8:40 p.m. on Saturday (Feb. 23).
The suspect, Xavier Griffin ( /m, XX), is charged with aggravated robbery in the XX State District Court. A photo of Griffin is not available at this time.
He is accused in the shooting of Carlos Durant, 23, who suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen and was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.
HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Investigators A. Ferrell and G. Black reported:
Mr. Durant and his girlfriend were in the parking lot of their apartment complex at the above address when they were approached by Griffin and two other black male suspects. Griffin and one of the other suspects drew pistols and forced the couple back to their apartment. The armed, unknown male suspect held the victim's girlfriend at gunpoint while Griffin held a gun to Durant and attempted to rob him. Durant was abl to retrieve his own gun and began to shoot at Griffin, striking him in the knee and arm. Griffin returned fire, striking Durant. Both Griffin and Durant were transported to area hospitals while the two unknown male suspects fled the scene in what was described as a grey 4-door Buick.
