Investigation into Fatal Crash at 5800 Martin Luther King Boulevard
April 5, 2019 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 5800 Martin Luther King Boulevard about 11:20 p.m. on Thursday (April 4).
The male victim, Jerongia Alonza Roberts, 24, was pronounced dead at the scene.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Rodriguez and Officer J. Nicotra reported:
Mr. Roberts operating a black and white dirt bike northbound on Martin Luther King Boulevard, crossed the Browncroft intersection and struck a gray Chevrolet Tahoe traveling eastbound on Browncroft. Roberts died at the scene.
Further investigation determined there was no street light in the area. It was also determined the dirt bike did not have a reflector or headlight, nor was it allowed for street use. The driver of the Tahoe, who remained at the scene, was determined to be impaired and arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated.
