Suspect Charged in Shooting at 3030 Dunvale Road
July 10, 2018 - Charges have been filed against a suspect wounded during a confrontation with a security guard at 3030 Dunvale Road about 8:55 p.m. on July 5.
The suspect, Willie Earl Simmons, Jr., 23, is charged with felony assault in the 183rd State District Court. Simmons sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen and was transported to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital in stable condition.
A booking photo is not available for Simmons, who remains hospitalized.
The security guard, Ibraheem Iessa, 33, was treated at the scene for injuries received in the assault.
HPD Major Assaults/Family Violence Division Officers V. Habukiha and A. Williams reported:
Several males were trespassing at the apartment complex at the above address when Mr. Iessa, a uniformed security guard for the complex, requested them to leave. At that time, Simmons and other males assaulted Iessa, who subsequently pulled a gun and shot Simmons. Paramedics transported Simmons to the hospital. Investigators interviewed Iessa and several witnesses. Charges were subsequently filed on Simmons.
