Investigation into Fatal Crash at 2900 Eastex Freeway
July 2, 2018 - Houston police are investigating a fatal auto-pedestrian crash that occurred at 2900 Eastex Freeway (North U.S. Highway 59) service road about 1:40 a.m. on Saturday (June 30).
The identity of the male victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant R. Klementich and Officer J. Crisler reported:
The driver of a black Cadillac Escalade exited the freeway onto the service road at the above address when the victim (pedestrian) stepped off the curb into the roadway and was struck by the Cadillac. Directly after the Cadillac struck the victim, the driver of a black Jaguar S-TYPE also struck the victim. Both drivers, realizing they had struck a pedestrian, turned around and called 911. The victim was transported to St. Joseph Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Both drivers were questioned, did not show signs of intoxication and were released.
The investigation is continuing.
