Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 7123 Heath Street
October 30, 2017 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 7123 Heath Street about 2:20 p.m. last Friday (October 27).
The suspect, Joseph Timothy Filer (b/m, 41), is charged with murder in the 183rd State District Court. He is accused in the killing of his nephew, Javonta Hooper, 23, of the above address.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Rhoads and Officer E. May reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call at the above address and found Mr. Hooper deceased. Further investigation determined Hooper and Filer had gotten into an altercation inside the residence that resulted in Hooper being shot several times by Filer. The suspect remained at the scene and was taken into custody without incident.
