July 13, 2017 - The fatal shooting of a man at 12331 Pine Knoll about 7:50 p.m. on July 4 will likely be referred to a Harris County grand jury.

The victim, Kentrell McFarland, 25, was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant B. Thomas and Officer R. Moss reported:

Officers were dispatched to a shooting call at the above address and were told Mr. McFarland arrived at the residence to see his ex-girlfriend.  The woman's stepfather (suspect) refused to let McFarland inside the home.  When McFarland tried to force his way inside, the suspect retrieved a pistol.  The confrontation continued at the front door and ended in the front yard with the suspect fatally shooting McFarland.  The suspect then left the scene before officers arrived.  He was later located and questioned.
