July 5, 2017 - Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man that occurred at 5400 Caversham at about 1:30 p.m. on Monday (July 3).

The victim, Gabriel Coleman, 37, was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Senior Police Officer W. Huff and Officer E. Contreras reported:

Mr. Coleman and a witness were in a vehicle when they picked up the suspect in the 8900 block of Chimney Rock.  Coleman was sitting in the front passenger seat when the suspect grabbed him from around the neck and pulled out a gun.  The witness pulled the vehicle over on Caversham and jumped out when he heard one gun shot.  He saw the suspect then flee on foot, firing at a passing vehicle as he left.  The suspect is described only as a black male.
