December 18, 2017 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man found at 721 Rouse about 9:30 p.m. on December 9.

The suspect, Juan Carlos Reyna (H/m, 19), also known as Juan Reyes, is charged with murder in the 337th State District Court for his role in the killing of Eduardo Cruz, 41.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Horn and Detective M. Cass reported:

A witness stated he arrived at a residence at the above address and saw a male he knows as "Juan" in a panicked state as he was leaving the backyard of the residence.  The witness went to the backyard and observed Mr. Cruz with a gunshot wound.  The witness then saw that Juan had fled the scene.  Paramedics pronounced Cruz dead at the scene.

On December 11, investigators released a photo of a person of interest, known only as "Juan," and asked for the public's help in identifying him.

Further investigation led to the identity of the male as Juan Reyna and he was arrested on Sunday (Dec. 17) without incident.
