Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 5403 Bungalow

April 3, 2017 - The fatal shooting of a man at 5403 Bungalow about 11:30 p.m. last Friday (March 31) will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.

The male victim, James Derrick Banks, 26, was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Dominguez and Officer S. Jimenez reported:

Mr. Banks was visiting the homeowner at the above address.  The two friends began arguing and the homeowner demanded Banks leave his residence.  The two then began fighting.  During the altercation, Mr. Banks was shot by the homeowner, who stated he acted in self-defense.

The investigation is continuing.
