UPDATE: Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 15131 Alkay Street
September 1, 2016 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of two females at 15131 Alkay Street about 2:45 a.m. on June 16.
The suspect, Michael Ratliff (b/m, 43), is charged with capital murder in the 179th State District Court. He is accused in the killing of his 14-year-old daughter, Ariel Ratliff, who died at the scene, and his wife, Sandtrece Ratliff, 44, who died at Ben Taub General Hospital.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeants K. Daignault and B. Chebret reported:
Michael Ratliff told investigators he was at home when his daughter and wife attempted to attack him with knives. He stated he then shot them both in self-defense.
Further investigation and evidence from the scene determined Ratliff did not act in self-defense. He was taken into custody on Wednesday (August 31) without incident and subsequently charged.
