Suspect Arrested, Charged in Shooting Incident at 4000 Redbud
October 14, 2016 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested who fired shots at Houston police officers during a pursuit at 4000 Redbud about 2 a.m. on Thursday (October 13).
The suspect, Ismael Gonzalez (H/m, 32), is charged with aggravated assault against a public servant and felony evading arrest in the 339th State District Court. A photo of Gonzalez is attached to this news release.
HPD Homicide Division Officers R. Pemberton and M. Perez reported:
About 1 a.m., HPD patrol officers saw a white Chevrolet Dually, driven by Gonzalez, traveling westbound on Westpark, determined the vehicle registration was expired and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. Gonzalez began to slow down and then sped up, failed to stay in a single lane and appeared to be impaired. As the Chevrolet approached Windswept, Gonzalez accelerated and ran a red light. Officers activated their emergency equipment and initiated a vehicle pursuit, during which Gonzalez pointed a gun out the driver's side window and fired a shot at officers, striking the windshield of the patrol vehicle.
Gonzalez continued to flee and eventually came to a dead end in the 4000 block of Redbud. He then exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Gonzalez was eventually taken into custody with assistance from HPD Air Support and K-9 and was subsequently charged.
