Investigation into Fatal Crash at 23000 Eastex Freeway
May 17, 2016 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 23000 Eastex Freeway (North U. S. Highway 59) at about 4:50 p.m. on March 23.
The female, 73, was transported to Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital in critical condition. Doctors pronounced her deceased from her injuries on April 14. Her identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant P. Lee and Officer J. Baker reported:
A gray Toyota Camry, a black Nissan Versa, a black Chevrolet Equinox and a gray Nissan Frontier pickup truck were traveling northbound on the Eastex Freeway. For unknown reasons, the Nissan veered from the exit lane and was struck by the Camry. The Camry was then struck by the Chevrolet Equinox. The Versa was then struck by the Nissan pickup truck. The driver of the Versa (victim) was transported by Houston Fire Department paramedics to the hospital. The drivers of the Camry and the Nissan pickup truck were transported to Kingwood Medical Center in unknown conditions.
The HPD Vehicular Crimes Division was notified by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences on Monday (May 16) of the
female's death and immediately initiated an investigation into the accident.
The investigation is continuing.
