Investigation into Fatal Crash at 7400 Katy Freeway
June 20, 2016 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 7400 Katy Freeway (West Interstate Highway 10) at about 2:45 a.m. on Saturday (June 18).
The identity of the female victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant L. Ross and Officer T. Fowls reported:
The victim was driving a silver G35 Infiniti at a high rate of speed eastbound on the Katy Freeway when she failed to maintain a single lane and struck a curb dividing the service road and the entrance ramp onto the freeway. The vehicle straddled the median and then redirected and struck the north retaining wall. After striking the retaining wall, the vehicle then struck a freeway light pole in the grassy median dividing the service road from the freeway. Both the driver and passenger were transported to Memorial Hermann Northwest Hospital where the driver was pronounced dead.
