Investigation into Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash at 6100 Westpark Drive
January 25, 2016 - Houston police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash at 6100 Westpark Drive about 6:20 p.m. on Saturday (Jan. 23).
The female victim, 11, was transported to Texas Children's Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Her identity is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Salazar and Officer M. Mathews reported:
The victim was a passenger in a silver Toyota Tundra traveling northbound in the 6200 block of the Southwest Freeway service road. At the intersection of the service road and Westpark Drive, the driver of a red vehicle, unknown make and model, struck the rear driver's side of the Tundra. The crash caused the pickup truck's driver to lose control of the vehicle and strike a median. The driver of the red vehicle then fled the scene. The Tundra's driver and a 16-year-old female passenger were transported to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Four other passengers (a boy, 5, a girl, 7, a girl, 11, and a boy, 12) were transported to Texas Children's Hospital.
