Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 5746 Harriet
August 3, 2015 - The fatal shooting of a man at 5746 Harriet about 10:45 a.m. on Sunday (August 2) will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.
The victim, Santiago Martinez, Jr. (AKA Junior), 31, was pronounced dead at the scene.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeants C. Cegielski, J. Brooks and Officers M. Burrow and D. Stark reported:
Mr. Martinez and some friends were at a residence at the above address when Martinez attempted to pull a gun on an individual. During a violent struggle for the gun, Martinez was shot and killed. All of Martinez's friends then fled the scene.
Other witnesses, who remained at the scene, were questioned and released.
