Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 1800 Commerce
April 30, 2015 - The fatal shooting of a male at 1800 Commerce about 9 p.m. on Wednesday (April 29) will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.
The male, James Jones (b/m, 30), was pronounced dead at the scene.
The male shooter was not injured in this incident.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Rhoads and Officer R. Ridel reported:
The victim was sitting in his parked vehicle when he was approached by Jones and a second suspect who asked for a ride. When they were refused, the two suspects appeared to walk away and then returned. Jones pointed a gun at the victim and ordered him out of the vehicle. The suspects then escorted the victim to the rear of the vehicle and forced him to his knees. Jones then got into the driver's seat and started the truck. The second suspect got into the passenger side. The victim then retrieved a gun from his waist and shot Jones. Both suspects exited the vehicle, attempting to flee. Jones was found a short distance away. The second suspect fled the scene on foot and remains at-large.
