April 27, 2015 - Houston police are investigating an apparent murder/suicide incident at 7004 Capitol Street about 11:55 a.m. on Sunday (April 26).

The female victim, Michelle L. West, 38, and the suspect, Kenneth Roy Jones, 58, suffered gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant R. Rodriguez and Officer M. Burrow reported:

The victim and suspect were living together and romantically involved. Ms. West called a friend to ask for a ride, and told the friend Jones had assaulted her. The friend arrived and heard a disturbance inside the apartment and called 911. An officer responded and knocked on the door. Moments later, the officer heard a gunshot. Officers made entry and found West and Jones deceased. West had been shot and Jones had an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. The murder weapon was recovered. Jones reportedly called a friend before his death to confess he had killed Ms. West and was going to kill himself.
