September 15, 2014 - The fatal shooting of a robbery suspect at 9142 Scranton about 11:40 p.m. last Friday (Sept. 12) will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.

The identity of the deceased male is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

The shooter, an employee of the business at the above address, was not injured.

HPD Homicide Division Officers M. Arroyo and W. Gilbert reported:

The suspect, armed with a shotgun, entered the convenience store at the above address with the intent to rob the business.  An employee, fearing for the life of a fellow employee, retrieved a gun and attempted to get the suspect to surrender, but the suspect refused to do so. The employee fired his weapon more than once and struck the suspect, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
