October 24, 2014 -Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal hit-and-run traffic accident at 8700 Cullen Boulevard about 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday (October 22).

The suspect, Edwin Jerome Watson (b/m, 32), is charged with failure to stop and render aid in the 178th State District Court and driving while intoxicated in Harris County Criminal Court #5. He is accused for his role in the death of Donald Brown, 64.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant I. Izaguirre and Officer R. Bymaster reported:

The driver of a blue Volkswagen Beetle was traveling southbound on Cullen and struck the victim as he was crossing westbound on Cullen. The vehicle then fled the scene. Dispatchers informed HPD officers that Pearland police officers had detained the vehicle and a male believed involved in the incident.

The male, Edwin Watson, was transported to the HPD jail, where he admitted to being the driver of the Volkswagen.
