June 10, 2014 - Houston Police Chief Charles A. McClelland, Jr., who has spent a lot of time urging teens not to text and drive, is supporting the "It Can Wait Houston" campaign aimed at spreading the message of "No Texting While Driving."
Teens achieve a new level of independence once they get their drivers' licenses, but Chief McClelland reminds young people it also comes with a responsibility. The Chief meets quarterly with teens in his Youth Police Advisory Council (YPAC), and texting and driving is a frequent topic of discussion.
"Texting and driving might be tempting and appear to be safe, but taking your eyes off the road, for anytime, or any distraction, can have deadly consequences" said Chief McClelland.
The following YouTube link, produced by Houston Television (HTV), illustrates for teens and all citizens the dangers of texting and driving.
