August 18, 2014 - Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a woman at 15890 Clarke Springs about 12:45 a.m. on Sunday (August 17).
The victim, Dixie Mendez, 24, of Houston, was pronounced dead at the scene.
HPD Homicide Division Senior Police Officers B. Nabors and R. Nunez and Officers W. Gilbert, T. Colbert, and J. Rexroad reported:
Ms. Mendez attended the birthday party of a friend's daughter at a residence at the above address and then went to sleep in a back bedroom. While she was asleep, altercation occurred between unknown suspects outside the home. During the altercation, a shot was fired that went through the bedroom wall and fatally struck Ms. Mendez.
