September 30, 2013 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 8200 Martin Luther King Boulevard about 10:50 a.m. today (Sept. 30).

The male victim was pronounced dead at the scene.  His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant C. Park and Officer D. Ashford reported:

The victim was driving a white Ford Expedition at a high rate of speed northbound on Martin Luther King Boulevard when he failed to maintain a single lane.  His SUV then left the roadway, drove onto a grassy median and struck a tree.  The vehicle caught fire and the driver died at the scene.

No other vehicles were involved in this accident.
