HPD Homicide Division Sergeants B. Harris, L. Flores and Senior Police Officers P. Guerrero and M. Waters reported:
Officers responded to a shooting call at 9303 Woodfair and saw Mr. Uribe lying in the driveway entrance to the Riverstone Apartments. HFD paramedics arrived at the scene and transported him to the hospital.
Investigators determined he had been beaten and then shot during a struggle with three robbery suspects.
The suspects, described as a black male and two black females, then fled on foot, leaving their white Ford Thunderbird behind because Mr. Uribe's vehicle blocked the only exit.
Suspect Sanders was initially questioned by investigators. He claimed at the time his Thunderbird had been stolen. Further investigation and evidence obtained at the scene later linked Sanders and one other individual to the murder.
Last Thursday (Sept. 26), Sanders voluntarily came to the HPD Homicide Division where he was re-interviewed and confessed to his role in Mr. Uribe's killing. He also provided information on two other possible suspects.
