September 25, 2013 - Houston police are awaiting verification from the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences on the identity of a male found deceased at 4600 Tidwell about 10:25 a.m. on Tuesday (Sept. 24).
The victim was found in White Oak Bayou and has been tentatively identified as a missing Harris County man, 18.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant B. Harris reported:
A witness was riding his bicycle near White Oak Bayou at the above adress when he saw a body in the bayou. He called 9-1-1 and the HPD Dive Team responded and retrieved the victim's body.
The possible victim, Mr. Eric Cabrerra, had distinctive tattoos, which were present on the body retrieved from the bayou. Cabrerra's family made the scene and gave a tentative confirmation the body was that of Eric Cabrerra.
The victim was believed to have gone missing last Friday (Sept. 20) when a powerful storm swept a truck into White Oak Bayou in the Harris County limits. The Harris County Sheriff's Office investigated the initial crash and conducted the search for the missing teen.
The body found on Tuesday was about two and a half miles north of the initial crash site and was caught on a drainage pipe. Receding water levels made the discovery of the body possible.
Any inquiries about the initial crash should be directed to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.
