June 12, 2013 - Houston police are awaiting autopsy results in the death of a man found after extinguishing a fire at 8511 Observatory about 6:05 p.m. on Tuesday (June 11).

The victim, Willie Crockett, 77, of the above address, died at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant T. Richardson and Senior Police Officer M. Khan reported:

HFD firefighters responded to a house fire at the above address. After the fire was extinguished, Mr. Crockett was found deceased in the front bedroom.

HPD Homicide and HFD Arson investigators were called to the scene.

The investigation is pending Mr. Crockett's cause of death, to be determined by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
