HPD Homicide Division Sergeant T. Simmons and Senior Police Officer B. Evans reported:
A male and his roommate/friend were watching a movie when the roommate suddenly began to provoke the male's dog. The male warned his friend to stop or the dog could bite him. The friend suddenly became enraged, tackled and then began to choke the dog. The male then jumped on his friend and tried to pry him off the dog. The friend then became even more enraged and began to assault the male, backing him up against a wall. Fearing for his life, the male obtained a gun from next to his bed and shot his roommate. The male then called 9-1-1. The roommate was then transported to the hospital where he died.
The male shooter was questioned and released by HPD homicide investigators.
