HPD Homicide Division Sergeant G. Whitehead and Senior Police Officer B. Nabors reported:

Magana and a family member entered the Speedy Mart at the above address and purchased something to drink.  As they walked to their vehicle, a Hispanic male exited an unknown make and model, dark colored, four-door vehicle.  The male walked toward the men and then behind their vehicle.  Moments later, a second unknown suspect then began shooting at Magana and his relative, while they sat in their vehicle.  During the shooting, a third unknown suspect approached from the parking lot and also began firing at Magana's vehicle.  Magana was critically wounded.  His family member was not injured.
