December 23, 2013 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 9400 Southwest Freeway (South U.S. Highway 59) service road about 11:15 p.m. on Sunday (Dec. 22).
The male victim, 27, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Rossman and Officer M. Waggoner reported:
The driver of a red Ford F-150 pickup truck was traveling southbound on the Southwest Freeway service road when he lost control of the vehicle and struck a utility pole, killing the backseat passenger. The driver fled the scene on foot. The male front seat passenger was transported to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Further investigation determined the driver of the pickup truck was fleeing the scene of a traffic accident in the 7500 block of Bellaire Boulevard.
