September 24, 2012 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 8800 Market Street about 9:10 a.m. on Sunday (Sept. 23).

The male victim was pronounced dead at the scene.  His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant C. Nickerson and Officer L. Galvan reported:

The victim was driving a silver Chevrolet Impala at a high rate of speed westbound on Market Street when his vehicle failed to maintain a single lane, jumped a curb, and struck a utility pole.  A male passenger was transported to Lyndon B. Johnson General Hospital and treated for minor injuries.
