November 5, 2012 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 8400 block of Hillcroft about 6:35 a.m. on Saturday (Nov. 3). 

The female victim, 18, was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where she was pronounced dead.  Her identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. 

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant C. Park and Officer T. Riley reported: 

The driver of a Nissan Altima was traveling at a high rate of speed northbound on Hillcroft and failed to stay in a single lane.  The vehicle then lost control and struck a utility pole on the east sidewalk of Hillcroft.  The passenger in the Nissan (victim) was transported to the hospital where she died.  The male driver, 19, was also transported to Ben Taub General Hospital with minor injuries and was treated and released. 

The investigation is continuing.
