May 7, 2012 - Houston police are investigating the apparent drowning of a juvenile female at 11900 Oakmoor Parkway about 6:35 p.m. last Friday (May 4).

The victim was pronounced dead at Texas Children's Hospital.  Her cause of death and identity are pending verification by the Harris County Insitute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Officers M. Chaney, I. Ulloa and J. Dominguez reported:

The victim and her family were celebrating a birthday party at their apartment complex swimming pool with several adults and a large number of children in the pool.  According to family members, the victim did not know how to swim and went into the deep end of the pool.  Eventually, those at the party noticed the girl at the bottom of the pool and some of the adults jumped in to pull her out of the water.  They performed CPR on the girl and called paramedics, who transported her to the hospital where she died.
