June 29, 2012 - The fatal shooting of a man at 3033 Elgin about 12:05 a.m. today will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.

The deceased male, 52, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Insititute of Forensic Sciences.

The male shooter, 19. was not injured in the incident.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant D. Hayes and Officer J. Horn reported:

HPD patrol officers repsonded to a shooting at the above location and found a deceased male just outside the convenience store. According to witnesses, the male had stolen beer from the location and was confronted by the store clerk, who shot the male outside the store.

The investigation is continuing.
