July 03, 2012 - A man critically injured in a traffic accident at 4800 Homestead about 10:25 a.m. on June 26 has died from his injuries.
The identity of the male victim, 67, of Channelview, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Insititute of Forensic Sciences. He died at Ben Taub General Hospital last Friday (June 29).
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant A. Francois and Senior Police Officer O. Lewis reported:
Witnesses stated the victim was operating a Harley Davidson motorcycle and traveling south on Homestead. While waiting for a green light, he accelerated and turned directly in front of oncoming traffic. A white Chevrolet van traveling north on Homestead, with a green light, struck the motorcycle. Paramedics arrived and transported the victim to the hospital. The driver of the van was questioned and released after officers determined he was not impaired.
The investigation is continuing.
