January 18, 2012 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 12500 Texaco Road about 4:20 p.m. on Wednesday (Jan. 18).

The male victim, 59, was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.  His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Insititute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant R. Gonzales and Officer T. Dougherty reported:

The victim was driving a white Chevrolet Nova at a high rate of speed eastbound in the 12500 block of Texaco Road when he lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree on the side of the road.  The Nova then rolled and the victim was ejected.  He was then transported to the hospital.

The investigation is continuing.
