August 6, 2012 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 7000 block of the Gulf Freeway (South Interstate Highway 45) about 1:30 a.m. on Saturday (Aug. 4).

The victim, 34, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant I. Izaguirre and Officer T. Hines reported:

According to witnesses, the victim was driving a black Chevrolet Trailblazer erratically at a high rate of speed, northbound on the Gulf Freeway between Broadway and Woodridge. Witnesses stated the driver nearly struck other vehicles on the freeway prior losing control of the vehcile near the Woodridge exit. The Trailblazer then struck the left guardrail and flipped over. The driver was ejected and died at the scene. The Trailblazer continued to roll over off the freeway and came to a stop at the bottom portion of the overpass.

No other vehicles were involved in this accident.
